Family Easter Pictures

Easter!

Alleluia, Christ is risen.
Christ is risen indeed, Alleluia.

Today we went to the Family Service at St. John's Episcopal where we attend church in Montgomery. There is a processional as a part of the Easter mass for the children in their fancy dresses. Moms escort the wee ones. We were so excited to be able to wear seersucker again so that's is what Kevin and I wore. I decided on a batiste and lace shortall that was handmade by Moseley's Great-grandmamas Jan (Jimbo's momma).

After church we changed into a less damage-able outfit and went to see some of Aunt Nancy's cousins that are in town.

Notice Moseley's new high tops for church. I love them!

Then, we went to the Tucks to have Easter lunch and hunt for Eggs. Andy and Kevin hid the eggs (think tops of bushes and car wheel wells) and then Katie and I escorted Sam and Moseley to hunt for them. They enjoyed that for about 3 seconds then moved on to other things :)

My Parents

Jessica Kimbrough Bancroft Wood, also know as Kim, went to Converse College and the University of South Alabama for her Bachelors in English, Bachelors in French and Masters in Education. She is acting Education Curator for the Mobile Museum of Art. Very eclectic in taste for adventure, she likes to explore parts of the south and the state of Alabama. She speaks french and can edit the written word like no one else.

Norman Edward Wood graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Fun fact: I am a 3rd generation graduate from Auburn, spanning a hundred years! After retiring from International Paper he decided he couldn't just stay at home all day. He studied up, applied and beat out all the other applicants for a top job at Degussa. He is plant electrical engineer and deals with Electrical Reliability. Loves to describe things using diagrams and will draw you a picture of what he is describing on just about anything.

Victoria Bacon Barney Wood went to the University of Colorado and studied film and photography. She has been associate producer of several movies, most notably, the cult classic Porkys. She left the film industry and moved home and had a shop in Birmingham of sewn childrens' gifts and then later back to Mobile to explore the travel industry. She managed a support group for AmEx Travel for many years. She is currently the manager of my daddy and has been for going on 20 years :) She taught me to sew when I was 8. I still sew today.

Fun Fact: Kim and Victoria both graduated from Julius Tutwiler Wright's School for Girls just a couple of years apart. Also, Kim's cousin, Emily, is Victoria's Godmother :)

Offspring: Norman and Kim have two children. Norman Staples Wood, born 1978 and Jessica Elizabeth Kimbrough Wood Garrison, born 1981.

My Fraternal Grandparents

Helen Odeel Weekley Wood, born 1920 and George Raymond Wood, born 1898.

Fun Facts: Grandmother has a park in Mobile named after her on Mobile Bay and is is something of a philanthropist in the state of Alabama. Grandfather, who died before I was born, owned G.R. Wood and Company which took on such engineering projects as wiring the Bankhead tunnel and the Auditorium in downtown Mobile. He also had many patents including the "Wood Compass."

Offspring: They had a daughter, Evelyn Wood (Young) and a son, Norman Edward Wood

My Maternal grandparents

Mary Elizabeth Kimbrough Bancroft and Charles Moore Bancroft were both born in 1921.

Fun Facts: Both graduated from the University of Alabama and were AOPi and DKE respectively. My grandmother, Mary Buff was a gorgeous ballerina. My grandfather, Charlie, flew bombers in WWII.

Offspring: They had two daughters, Jessica Kimbrough Bancroft (Wood) born 1950 and Mary Ellen Staples Bancroft (Reynolds) born 1961.

A little about me: Favorite People

I love my family. I mean I really really love my family. My parents are divorced and my daddy is re-married and I couldn't be happier about it. Of course you wish divorce wouldn't happen but in my case I was so lucky!

I have an awesomely independent momma who is the acting Education Curator of the Mobile Museum of Art. I have a really smart and very hardworking daddy and as a bonus a very cool and also smart step-mom. Really, you just don't get all that with a traditional family :) With that being said I have serious roots. My Momma's family is from Mobile and lives in Mobile. My daddy grew up in Mobile with his parents and sister and he and my grandmom live in Mobile. My Daddy's sister and her husband (also my god-father) is 40 min away in Pensacola. My Step-mom's family is from Mobile and lives in Mobile. My Momma's sister (also my god-mother) and her husband live in our family's house in Mobile. Do you see where this is going? Even my brother's wife is from Mobile and her family lives in Mobile. My brother is away right now (in GA) for work but they have a lot they own in Mobile where they will builda house when they get back.

You can see why I felt it was safe (or maybe safer due to repeats in the gene pool) to marry an "outsider." Yes folks, I married a northerner. Well um, Northern Alabama :) And I am so lucky to have him and his parents and brother. Actually we are close with ALL of his family and mine.

You can see why, with all of these close people in my family I spend a lot of time traveling to see them.

I am going to tell you a little about each of the people in my family that I think is special. This might take a while and is in no order of preference!!

Crazy B and the curse of the pants.

My nephew and Godson, Bancroft is one of the funniest guys I know. Throughout his life he has really just cracked me up with his antics. See this past summer's "Jellyfish Story."

Today, Bancroft really wanted to eat Thin Mints in the den and watch the Spongebob Movie. Ellen, his momma, really doesn't allow him to get chocolate everywhere. So, it's eat them in the kitchen or not at all.

After many failed attempts by B to sneak them out of the kitchen he walked in while we were being entertained by Moseley and as he was walking back out, I said, "Hey, B, weren't you wearing different pants earlier?" And as his momma looked up Bancroft had this "I am so guilty" smirk on his face. We then realized he was again trying to sneak the cookies into the Den and had caught him.

He looked straight down with fists raised and said "Curse you pants!" It was the funniest thing, we all died laughing!! Maybe you had to be there. Oh well I love the little guy.

A little about me: Favorite Song

I have realized lately that I love blogging. By "blogging" I mean writing my own blog and reading comments as well as reading other people's blogs. It is therapeutic for me to express my feelings and hopefully, I will remember Moseley's milestones longer by writing them down. Because I like blogging so much I think now I will tell you all a little about me. This may take a few posts :)

My absolute favorite song is called Canticle 9. Sometimes referred to as "The First Song of Isaiah," it is actually from the book of Isaiah, chapter 12, verses 2-6 set to music. I sing this A LOT. I sing it to Moseley and I sing it to myself. I sing it if I am bored or excited or can't fall asleep. I actually went to another church last year as a visitor and they played this song and I was jumping up and down in excitement to sing it :) Cheesy, but I love God! Below are the words and if you run into me I will be happy to sing it for you.

In case you were wondering, my runner up is Canticle 13, "A Song of Praise. " Interestingly, this comes from the Song of the Three Young Men, 29-34. Haven't heard of this? The three young men are better know as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and this is the song they sang in the furnace (one of my favorite stories). This book of the Old Testament can usually only be found in the Apocrypha.

Canticle 9
Surely, it is God who saves me;
I will trust in him and not be afraid.

For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense,
and he will be my Savior.

Therefore you shall draw water with rejoicing
from the springs of salvation.

And on that day you shall say,
Give thanks to the Lord and call upon his Name;

Make his deeds known among the peoples;
see that they remember that his Name is exalted.

Sing the praises of the Lord, for he has done great things,
and this is known in all the world.

Cry aloud, inhabitants of Zion, ring out your joy,
for the great one in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Canticle 13

Glory to you, Lord God of our fathers;
you are worthy of praise; glory to you.

Glory to you for the radiance of your holy Name;
we will praise you and highly exalt you for ever.

Glory to you in the splendor of your temple;
on the throne of your majesty, glory to you.

Glory to you, seated between the Cherubim;
we will praise you and highly exalt you for ever.

Glory to you, beholding the depths;
in the high vault of heaven, glory to you.

Glory to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
we will praise you and highly exalt you for ever.

Palm Sunday!

Today we went to church. The Palm Sunday service was lovely and Moseley always has a great time in the Nursery. Afterwards, Kevin had to work a bit so Moseley and I came home and played/napped. When Kevin got home we both set to clean up the house. We got the laundry and dishes put away and Kevin vacuumed the entire place! After Moseley's dinner and bath, we put him down (still no paci!). Then, we tag teamed dinner. Kevin made Hamburger Steak (YUM!) and I made creamed new potatoes. It was a wonderful end to a wonderfully productive day :)

Our not-so-lazy Saturday

We woke up this morning and went to Kevin's softball practice. His team, "The LongShots" is through his work. We had a lot of fun watching them play while Moseley yelled "DADA" across the field at him. Then, we grabbed lunch and met David at our apartment to meet his new lab named Diego. Diego is a two-year old big baby. I love him! He just walks alongside you and is soo sweet.

Moseley sitting at his little table eating a snack and drinking some Daddy Juice.

Then, my nose was really hurting b/c I get these staph infections in it whenever I have been sick. So, Kevin took me to the doctor. I had been using topical Bactroban and it wasn't helping. The doctor said I had a "fever blister" in my nose so he prescribed Valtrex. So, I went and had it filled. Then it hit me, this is the medicine they prescribe for Genital Herpes!!! You know, the commercial that says, "I have GH, but my boyfriend doesn't, and I'd like to keep it that way!" I was so embarrassed when I got home!!!

Five Days Paci Free!

So, today was day five of our paci-free life and it is going very well. Day four was a tad shaky with a few meltdowns but I couldn't really tell if it was paci related or not.

Keeping up with the Jones's

Our friends, Trevor and Krista Jones welcomed a baby girl, Ida Bain (sp?) Jones on Friday March 7th. Ida was 6 lbs 7oz at birth and 20 inches long!

(*this info was told to me by Kevin so I hope it is all correct :)

No More Paci!

So, Tuesday night, Moseley went to sleep without his Paci. Yesterday, we packed the rest of them up and became a Paci-free household. So far so good, 3 days paci-free. I should find an AA pin for him to wear that says 3 days sober (I mean, without a paci!).

A Blanket for Sister

My friend Katie is having a baby on April 15th, which is in 4 weeks! I wanted to make something for Lily, who will be known by me forever as "sister" but didn't know what to make. Katie makes clothes really well so I didn't want to go that route. Then, I got an idea.

I had these swatches from Laura Ashley that I got in High School. In the spring of 1996, my friend Mary Noller and I called every single Laura Ashley store (back then there were a ton) and requested "free swatches." Turns out the long distance bill would have more than covered a few bolts of designer fabric. Since then, I have never been able to part with the coveted patches. So, I made some of them into a blanket for Sister. I love how it turned out. It is small, and since sister will probably be small, it will be perfect for her.

I LOVE Pickles...

...but this is a tad too much!

Leap, Baby!

Our adorable cousin is here! Bryce Garrison Burnham was born on February 29, 2008 at 10:08pm. That makes him a leap baby. He weighed in at 7 lbs, 4 oz and is 19.5 inches long. I am going to visit him Wednesday and I cannot wait to hold his cute self!

Look at all that hair!!

Tricks

Moseley has lately been doing different tricks for us. A few weeks ago he started to use a ball to balance while he is doing a reverse squat. It's hilarious. Now, he does it without anything, but this is the only capture from a few weeks ago.

Our Hospital Stay

Moseley is fine now but we had a scare Wednesday. He woke up and couldn't move his limbs. He was screaming. Then, he was very lethargic and was hard to wake up. His doctor wanted to play it safe by bringing him in for monitoring. They kept us until Thursday night which was hard but Moseley was such an angel. They did a CT scan and an EEG which all came back clear. We had a re-check today and all looks good.

Get me outta here!

Please?

I have a secret...

I am and have been (since I was 17) in love with Jason Schwartzman. I think he is so hot but also very talented. Early on he was the star in Rushmore, recently he was in Darjeeling Limited...

Anywho, he has a band called Coconut Records and their new album, Nighttiming is fantastic! Go give them some lovin' - buy their CD.

Quotes from Kevin!

"Seriously honey, is there a medicine I can take that retards the growth of fingernails? They are always so long!"
-Kevin complaining that he is so healthy his nails grow fast

"Wait, the mold is only around the top?"
-Kevin, commenting that he will still eat the spaghetti sauce as long as I scrape off the mold. Um, NO!

Snapfish Pictures

These are the latest Snapfish Pictures. They are from the first few weeks of February.

Unfortunately, we lost some of January's pics when my hard drive crashed. Some of those that were cutest are posted on our blog.

I love my daddy!

Moseley has fits of excitement when Kevin gets home from work everyday. It is so cute. This day, Moseley wanted to give his daddy a kiss.

Some pictures from the beautiful spring-like week.

A few days back we had some gorgeous weather. We met Kevin for lunch on Tuesday at La Zona Rosa. This is the adorable outfit Mose got for Christmas from Ellen.

Flowers from my beau.

I was sick last week and the week before. Kevin was so sweet to me. He brought me sweet tarts, gatorade, ice cream and made several trips to the pharmacy for meds.

These were some flowers he brought me, such a sweet guy!

Apple Redeemed

Ok, so Apple has a 1 year warranty. And you'll never believe this: but mine ended YESTERDAY! I can't believe I have had my computer for a year now. As I walked into the Apple store today I put on my most pathetic face and asked them nicely to overlook the fact that I was one day over my warranty. And they said "No Problem!" Why? Because they are a people of magic, that's why.

So, my computer is being fixed, yay!

Oh how the mighty have fallen

Sunday night as Kevin and I sleepily watched the Super Bowl, we realized what difference a year can make. Last year, Moseley was only a few months old and we had a SB party at our house. There were about 7 infants there and their mom's as well as couples and singles. It was fun. This year, we have all been sick throughout January and now February so we couldn't go to the SB party a friend was having.

Dead Mac

Oh, yes, folks, you heard me. My stupid, nearly new, thousands of dollars, MacBook died today. So, now I have to drive to Birmingham to have it fixed b/c no one in Montgomery can. So, unless I have the utmost patience to deal with Kevin's older and slower (albeit WORKING) computer, I won't be blogging or emailing. Maybe I should have gone with a PC after all? I will let you all know once I dish out the big bucks to have the thing fixed.

I miss my computer!

Park

A couple times a week we meet Katie and Sam at the Church Park by their house. Last Monday, Kevin had a holiday and although he worked most of it, he came home early to go to the park with us. Andy also joined us. I kept meaning to post these pics but forgot.

Beautiful Saturday

Kevin, Moseley and I set out for a walk today. We went to the shops up the street and got a coffee and got a baby present for Kevin's cousin. Then we took our absentee ballot up to the Post Office. Moseley decided it was way too much work to have to ride in the wagon so he went to sleep. He slept like a rock over ever bump and rattle!

Sick much? And other goings on...

Last night we hung out at the Tucks. So much fun. We have been getting together with them about one night a week. The boys play for awhile and then we put them to sleep. Then we have grown up time. Last week we ate pizza and played dominoes. This week we watched a movie.

I had a big salad and then some of Katie's fantastic chili (Kevin had TWO Bowls!). We watched the movie "The Real Old Testament" Which is hilarious.

Then, I started to feel funny. By the time we left, I wasn't feeling too hot. We got home and I tried to sleep to no avail. I got up about 12:30a and was "sick" for about an hour and a half. Even afterwards, I still couldn't sleep because I still felt so bad.

So, we cancelled our trip to Mobile :( and will go next weekend.

Girls night out!

I went to Birmingham yesterday for a Girls night out. I arrived in time to have lunch with Krista who is due with her first baby in SIX WEEKS! I dropped a salad off at David's work then headed to my art class. I met Anna and Catherine (no babies!) at the Jennifer Harwell studio for our class. We drank Baileys and Milk and Coffee during the class which made it very interesting. After we finished our masterpieces we headed to Allison's house to change for our night out. We ate at Greyhouse Grille and then had drinks at Innisfree.

Anna, Jess, and Catherine with our creations.

Unfortunately, back in Montgomery, Moseley began throwing up around 10:30p. After we all parted ways I headed back to Montgomery. I made good time and got back about 12:30a.

He is fine now though. Just reacted badly to his dinner of chili and mexican cornbread.

Playdate with Katie and Sam

Click here to see pics and info from our fun playdate last Thursday with Katie and Sam!

Snow in Montgomery?

We had snow in Montgomery, Alabama. Moseley wasn't sure what to think. He held a "snow ball" briefly before dropping it. It was kind of cold, I don't blame him :)

Giddy Mose playing with momma and daddy.

Momma and Mose cuddling for warmth.

How many layers does that baby have on?

Hey, this is cold!

Sorrow...

Please say a few prayers for peace for the Burgess' family today. Yesterday, their son drowned in the Family's swimming pool. You can read their statement on the Rick and Bubba site.

Thought for the day...

"It's not that good things always come to those who are faithful, more that as we are faithful we see the things that are so bad get transformed into goodness."

-Robert C. Wisnewski, Jr. (Rector of our Church, St. Johns)

This must be the climbing stage.

Moseley loves to climb onto things. If he can't get onto them himself, he stacks a toy and uses it as a ladder. I found him on the coffee table a few days ago. He also loves to stand up backwards in his rocking chair and rock. Slightly terrifying for me. This also means I have to watch his every move. Even his room isn't safe anymore! Luckily, Kevin and I have also taught him to get off of things by scooting backwards. As long as he isn't flinging himself off he should be ok. Let's hope DHR doesn't come and get me before the month is out.

Birth-month

Yesterday, while the boys were at school, Katie and I decided to go and get a pedicure to celebrate my birthday. It was great to get pampered and not have to chase Moseley around. Afterwards, we picked out a place to eat "that we couldn't take the boys."

When I finally picked Moseley up from school at 1p we both took a nap until 4:30p!!! What a great day it was!

The Big Easy... again

This weekend I went to New Orleans to celebrate my birthday. Momma, Moseley and I had a great time and I got a lot of really awesome gifts. Plus, we ate at a Mexican restaurant, my favorite. On Sunday, we went on a small shopping spree. I got some new Jeans and a shirt (thank you Victoria and Dad for the gift certificate to the Gap!). And... I found the perfect swimsuit. It is brown with a light blue lettuce edge. It has a tankini top and bikini bottom and there is also a swim skirt for modesty.

On Saturday I had a bit of car trouble. My power steering pump exploded just outside of the Jeep dealership. Luckily they had it ready for me when we got back.

What does Mono and Pinkeye have in common?

Kevin.

That's right folks, he has Mononucleosis and conjunctivitis. He has to take about 5 different medicines every 4 hours.

On top of this I have to wear a boot on my left foot due to a painful bone spur and have a staph infection in my nose.

We need many prayers said because we are the crippled leading the sick! Thank the good Lord that Moseley is not sick.

In good news, I am going to NOLA this weekend to visit my friend Mary Noller. I am so pumped, we always have a ton of fun.

Birth-mas!

So this weekend, Kevin and I went to Decatur to finally clebrate Christmas with them. It just so happens that Saturday was my birthday too! Needless to say it was a fantastic birthday. I was completely spoiled by everyone!

My favorite gifts were the 8 monogrammed Tervis Tumblers I got, jcrew gift card, and my brand spaking new Sirius radio player. Mine was old and decrepid and this one is so teeny!!

Thank you for all my birthday wishes via phone calls, emails, facebook, and text messages. I felt so loved!

We had our Plan Review last Friday and the house is gonna be great. More news on that to come.
