Aquarium of the Americas

Today, we headed to New Orleans for the day. We hit up the Aquarium which the boys loved! Then we drove over to Magazine Street to shop and eat. We ate at La Petite Grocery. The crabmeat beignet, iceberg wedge, and gnocchi was fantastic! We then went shopping. Mignon Faget is always a fun place to go. We hit up Orient Expressed as well. We ended at Perlis where I got a seersucker dress. It was a wonderful day and the boys were so sweet. Thanks for the great day, Big Norm and Vic!

Ten Months!

How is it possible that my baby, my youngest is closing in on a year! I am baffled at where the time goes. I blinked and he was crawling. Here he is at 10 months. It is getting harder to wrangle him in these pics which is why they are kind of lopsided :)

Associate Golf Par-Tee

Kevin and I hosted a party après-golf outing last night. I love throwing parties and DO NOT get to do so as often as I would like. (Wonder why that is?) So, when KRG asked of we could host this party, I said, "Absolutely!" It was golf themed and so fun to do. I am terrible about taking pics right before the party but took these much earlier in the day. Hopefully you get the gist.

The "Watering Hole" KRG bought all kinds of strange beer and sundrop. And we served Arnold Palmers as well but the container was in the fridge when this was taken.

Food table. We served BBQ "club" wiches, "Chip shots" (chips and dip) and "Sand trap" salad (a potato salad and pasta salad). We also had doughnut hole in ones- which were white-chocolate covered doughnut holes on sticks. They were stuck down in the grass of the yellow bucket. The sign said "19th hole."

Carousel!

We bought a LivingSocial deal for the Galleria's carousel a few weeks ago. When my friend Micah asked if we wanted to go today for lunch I figured I could use my deal and enjoy great company! Micah's little boy, Christian and Chambers are BFF's so they had a great time as usual. Moseley is pretty equal opportunity so had a good time talking to the younger boys and checking on Addison (Christians baby sister). We were at the park before the carousel so the A/C'd mall was a nice change!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Saturday, May 4th was our 6 year anniversary of being Mr and Mrs. Kevin R. Garrison! Memorial day was our TEN year anniversary of being together. Wow, time flies! It truly in some respects feel like we just got married.

We celebrated the entire weekend. Thankfully, Kevins parents (they are saints!) came in for the weekend to watch the children.

Friday night we went to the Associates Party hosted by Jennifer Johnson and her hubby in Greystone. They have a gorgeous house and so sweetly opened it up for us. Afterwards, we went to the 9;50p showing of Hangover II. It was about how I expected it to be and because we wanted to just enjoy a thoughtless movie, it was great.

Saturday morning we went to Pepper Place to meet up with Jessie Tuggle and her children. Jackson is Chambers age and Johanna is 4 months old. We only took Roe since we were taking full advantage of the babysitters.

Saturday afternoon we went to the Magic City Brewfest. It was fun. I don't drink Beer but it was fun for me to go up and ask for something then hand it over to KRG. We also got to see Kevin's brother John for a little bit and his roomie Steven.

Saturday night we had reservations at Hot-n-Hot. It was wonderful. I had a strawberry Mojito, Salmon with a summer salad (divine), and then a salted caramel cake. Kevin had the sirloin on a potato cake with rapini and gelato for dessert.

But wait, there's more. We went to a surprise party for one of Kevin's friends from law school. It was fun and she was so surprised. After all of that we were pooped. We got home (after a quick stop by Sonic) around 11p and crashed. We didn't get up until after 8am this morning! It was a wonderful Anniversary.

Oh and presents, I gave Kevin a Brooks Brothers leather belt (reverses black to brown) with a custom belt buckle. He also got a hankerchief from Lyonstate.

Only picture we took the whole weekend going through the Sonic drive-thru. Our camera is broken so I blame that!

This weekend we don't have much going on. Saturday morning we went to Pepper Place to get some veggies. Last night was KRG and my TEN YEAR anniversary of dating! Whoa! We took the children out to a romantic Mexican meal :) Next weekend is our wedding anniversary so we will do something nice... Alone. Not sure what the rest of the weekend entails but I am enjoying the family time!

Potty Training Recap

We started potty training last Sunday, May 15. We had half heartedly tried once before but the boys were still in school and life got in the way. This time, Kevin wad the catalyst. He put Chambers on the potty to tee-tee and C was successful! This was the "connection" we were missing the first time. Monday morning we took away the diapers and put him in underwear. He went potty successfully about 5 times before naptime. Twice in the Dr office and once at Publix. I couldn't believe how well it was going so at lunchtime so I didn't make him go potty before he ate his sandwich. He was whining about it and so I gave in. Well sure enough after lunch his pants were damp. Not wet but damp. We had a nice talk about how uncomfortable that was and he finished going in the potty. It was evident he started going then stopped. The next 3 days were pretty awesome. He had one accident at school. As they said, "they didn't tell us he needed to go." No kidding? The first few days we gave him a vanilla wafer or small ginger bread cookie for going tee-tee. Even if he was forcing it out. I figured it was working those muscles of control. On the 4th full day we left for Chattanooga. He ha only ha those 3 accidents the whole time so we only brought undies for him. We spent the entire day out on the town and he did perfectly! We also stopped doing treats. He just stopped asking for them and I stopped offering. Somewhere in that madness he just mastered #2. We never had THAT kind of accident.Life with only one in diapers is AMAZING!

We heart McWane!!

Believe it or not, this is where I take the boys when I need a break. Somewhere we can go where the house isn't being dismantled :) It helps that they LOVE it and burn a ton of energy here. We try to go at 9a and I usually pack lunch so that once we are home, it is straight to naptime :)

Open Tomb Sunday

Our wonderful church, St. Stephens Episcopal, hosted Open Tomb Sunday this past weekend (May 22, 2011). It was such a wonderful event. There was only one service, at 10am, OUTSIDE followed by our Easter Egg Hunts and then a potluck lunch. There is NOTHING quite like a church potluck! I have never seen so much good food in one place. We brought brownies which were good but lost among the other fine desserts. It was such a good experience especially since our church, located in Cahaba Heights was recently ravaged by a tornado.

Here I am and Chatty Town...

I am going to blog once a week. At least. Amen.

Ok so the boys and I went with Kevin to a conference in Chattanooga, TN this past Thursday-Saturday. Kevin was going to be booked solid during the day and night but I still wanted to go so the boys and I could play around the town.

Thursday night we got in around 8p and had dinner and headed to bed. All five of us in one small-ish room. The Chattanoogan is great but we really LOVE our 4 bedroom house :)

Friday Kevin headed off to his day of workshops and the boys and I hit the pavement. We (I) decided we should just walk everywhere since it would truly be easier for me than driving.

It was a little over a mile to our first destination. The Tennessee Aquarium. Getting there right at opening time, we spent 3 hours there at which point Roe fell asleep and took his morning nap.

I then strolled us over to Rio Picante restaurant where I realized Chambers had fallen asleep. Roe was now awake but quiet and content. Moseley and I had a wonderful lunch together talking and joking around.

I had promised the boys ice cream if they were good so after lunch we hit up Ben and Jerry's. Chambers woke up and after he ate some of his quesadilla he and Moseley had some sorbet.

Next up: The Children's Discovery Museum. This place was awesome. If you are in Birmingham, I liken it to theMcWane Center. Very impressive exhibits, a lot of funding is pouring into this place. Roe took his afternoon nap while here. I was so impressed with my childrens ability to adapt. Makes me think of other places we could go... Disney?

I purchased the combo pack of tickets and after it was all said and done our tickets totaled $65. Not bad for an entire day of fun for 4!

We headed back to the hotel around 5-ish. It was a long day but SO worth it. the boys had so much fun.

The next day after Kevin's half day we went to Warehouse Row. Here we ate Lunch at Public House (delish!), did a little shopping at Kayce Hughes (Pears + Bears!!) and drooled over the findings at Revival: Uncommon Goods. Afterwards we decided to head home so we wouldn't get in too late. We had so much fun and I cannot wait to go back. This was our 3rd trip to Chattanooga but I can never get enough!

Normalcy?

Now that the Holidays are over I am hoping I can start blogging again. At least once or twice a week. Things are going well for us - we have a pretty good schedule going on right now.

Roe is 5 months old and is rolling around and grabbing things. And of course he chews on EVERYTHING. It's funny how I forget the little milestones from child to child. There is such a stark contrast between Moseley to Chambers and Chambers to Roe! Roe is also a very content baby. He only cries if he is starving or has a dirty diaper. Since he prefers to have a blowout ever 3 or so days you can imagine he doesn't cry often. I try to pay him special attention since he just sits in his carseat while toting the boys around.

Roe's surgery has healed very nicely. Hard to believe it has been two months since his surgery. At our checkup the Doctor thought he saw marked improvement in kidney drainage so we go back in a few months. Hopefully the drainage corresponds to function :)

Chambers is talking, talking, talking. I was thinking (HOPING) that since Moseley is such a talker, Chambers would be on the quiet and pensive side. No such luck.

Things he says:

-Momma, bubba's not being nice!

(bubba = Moseley. He also says momma and daddy aren't nice if we don't give him something he wants)

-Momma, bubba hit me/pushed me, etc.

-Momma, I love you sooo much!

- Yoohoo, Daddy. Daddy, yoohoo. (b/c he always wants his daddy :)

-Daddy no home. Daddy go work! (pouting b/c he hates when Kevin isn't home)

Moseley is a wealth of information. He also likes to speak in generalities. I think he is trying to figure out the "rules of the world." He says things like, "Momma, if someone gives some of their snack to their brother then that means they are a really good boy." He asks questions about everything and talks non-stop. Kevin and I actually call him the mouth of the south not to his face). We know he is about to fall asleep in the car b/c he starts talking really fast right before passing out.

So... life is super busy around here.

Moseley is now four, Chambers is two and Roe is four months. Things are starting to really fall into place. The holidays were hectic but so much fun. We LOVED watching Moseley and Chambers enjoy Christmas!

10/18: 11 pounds!!

He is growing WAY too fast! He has already outgrown a lot of his clothes :( Luckily, he is sleeping well at night. Last night was his best night yet, eating at 7:30p and not waking up until 4:15a to eat.

Charles Monroe Garrison was born August 23rd at 7:18am at Brookwood Women's Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and is 21 inches long. He has a head full of black hair and Kevin and I think he is the cutest baby in the world!!!

Just for fun here are the stats for my three sons:

Moseley - 8 pounds, 14 ounces - 21.75 inches long

Chambers - 8 pounds, 8 ounces - 21.5 inches long

Roe - 7 pounds, 14 ounces - 21 inches long

**Can you believe how much smaller Roe is? And he was born at 39 weeks just like Moseley!**

Celebrating Baby Roe.

Last night, my friends and I got together to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Roe. We went to one of my favorite restaurants, Cocina Superior. It was so much fun and very delicious. These girls are my support group and I am not sure if I could survive without them!! The only downfall is that my Margarita was a Virgin Strawberry instead of a top shelf Pomegranate :)

So sweet to come celebrate and even sweeter to bring gifts for baby Roe!

July 4th in Augusta

We went to Augusta, Ga to visit Nancy and Staples for the Fourth. We hadn't been there since before Chambers was born. They had visited us several times in the past year and of course it is so easy to meet up in Mobile! We were so afraid we wouldn't get to visit before they moved back to Mobile and it was the perfect 3-day weekend.

Chambers 18 month went well today. He had one little shot and is otherwise healthy.

Random Happenings

Moseley did not feel well for about 4 days! He would literally lay around like this all day. He wouldn't eat either. It was pretty sad for me to watch :(

I love when road trips go this smoothly... Notice the babydoll in Chambers lap. That is actually Moseley's beloved "Pony Watkins." Chambers has an identical one (different colored clothes) but it must have been left behind and Moseley was kind enough to share.

How we know when dinner is "all done." Food starts getting put in places other than the mouth... I like to call this masterpiece, "Chicken in the Ear."

Best Friends

Moseley LOVES Chambers. He is very helpful when it comes to Chambers. He will help feed him, dress him, bathe him, and even clean him up and get him down from the high chair (yes, I walked in as he was picking him up out of the high chair and dropping him on the floor.) He also loves to give him toys when he isn't feeling well or is sad. He will sing a silly song if he is crying. Chambers will one day understand that Moseley is his number one advocate.

Chambers loves Moseley right back and NO ONE can make him laugh like Moseley. Just with a silly motion or look.

Believe it or not my sweet little Chambers is one tough cookie. He is not afraid to defend himself against anyone if he thinks he is in "danger" (i.e., his food or toy will be stolen). He also loves to lay all over Moseley.

Anytime Moseley even thinks about sitting on the floor or laying on the floor, he is, literally, "all over him"!

Mother's Day Garden

Kevin brought me a Hydrangea friday for Mother's day. Then on Sunday he planted me an entire garden! I tried to help fill in the holes and make soil mixes but didn't do as much as Kevin did!

1 Shumardi oak, 2 Hostas, 2 Purple Loropetalum, 2 Tomatoes, 1 Chive, and 1 Bell Pepper. We didn't have time to put the Geraniums in before it got dark. Also, we are adding a birdbath behind the Hostas as soon as we find one we like.

The Big Easy

We went to New Orleans on a "babymoon" in late March. We flew down Friday morning and back Sunday afternoon. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton on Canal which was right in the heart of everything we wanted to see/eat :) The weekend was a blast and centered around eating (I AM pregnant).

Friday for lunch we went to Bon Ton on Magazine St. It was fantastic!

Friday night we went to Cafe Marigny on Frenchman for appetizers and drinks (I had a Shirley Temple).

Then to Adolfo's for dinner. Adolfo's is an italian restaurant on Frenchman and is outstanding!! It is on the 2nd floor of this building.

Saturday morning we hit up Cafe du Monde for Beignets (delish!). We got a table immediately which is just crazy because it was packed!

On our way back, we strolled around the french quarter. Super windy and pretty chilly day in Jackson Square.

Saturday for lunch we went to Napolean House which has always been a favorite of mine. This is an old photo but not much has changed!! (photo courtesy of their website)

We celebrated Kevin's birthday while we were there and he got this super cute Linen Bucket Hat from Brooks Brothers. You can see him "modeling" it on the picture above from Jackson Square.

Saturday for dinner we had reservations at Galatoire's. My parents go there frequently but I had never been. They had a salad that I dream about and the creamed spinach was also very very good. Kevin got some fish that was super boney which made him really work for his meal. That added with our brand-spanking-new-waiter who brought our ticket and change (like loose money) out without a cover was pretty annoying but we were definitely able to laugh about it. What really tickled us is that we have dozens of restaurants in Birmingham that are better, Highlands, Ocean, Hot-n-Hot, Bottega, etc so we will be hitting up those very soon :)

Sunday was eventful. We went to Trinity Episcopal Church in the Garden District. It was Palm Sunday which is a big holiday for us. The beginning was a great service, outdoor, with a bunch of prayer and singing followed by a processional into the church. We aren't sure how the rest of the service went b/c that's when I passed out!! I didn't feel very well afterward so we headed to the ER to make sure the baby was ok (everything was fine!). Turns out I have pregnancy-induced Syncope, which is basically just "passing out." Thanks goodness it hasn't happened since, it was pretty frightening.

As Kevin said... "It just isn't a pregnancy without a trip to the ER!"

Our flight was later that afternoon and I still wasn't feeling all that great so we took it easy the rest of the afternoon. I couldn't wait to get home to see my babies!!

As you can see most of our days involve water and/or sand. We also frequent our park and pool. All in all, the Garrison boys are a wet messy duo but they know how to have fun!! I am sure it will take no time for them to inaugurate the baby into their chaos :)

Little boy #3 has no name :( We just ran out for now! Hopefully we will be able to sit down this weekend and come to a consensus about a name for this little angel. We are so excited and have updated the nursery for this little joy. I will hopefully be able to post some pics in a few weeks.

I get to go back for another ultrasound at 28 weeks to check on some fluid build-up in his kidney. Maybe if I take another disc they will give me some pictures from that U/S as well! I never get tired of seeing my little miracles!

Theatre Seating!

This morning was a bit crazy. Yesterday, my car decided it wouldn't recognize my key to start the engine and wouldn't start. So this morning the boys and I took Kevin to work (at 7 am!) and headed home to wait on the tow truck. Today was also the day our sweet and dear cleaning lady, Rosa comes to clean. She usually gets here about 7:45a. We aren't normally here while she cleans, because Thursdays are our early Bell Center Days which works out great for us. But because we needed to take care of the car business we had to miss the Bell Center and stick around the house. My solution? Park them in front of the garage TV (out of Rosa's way) and strap them into the Power Wheels! Talk about Theatre Seating. They were so good for nearly all of NEMO - which is a miracle b/c neither will watch an entire show at a seating :) They got to watch the towing process which was good fun and once they got restless we headed in the backyard while Rosa and Andreas finished up.

Mrs Garrison goes to Washington

During Spring Break I took the boys to Washington, D.C. to visit my very dear friend Sarah. Sarah was my FIRST friend at Auburn. I can honestly say that meeting her was one of the those pinnacle moments in life when God sticks someone in your path and life is forever changed (in a good way, of course). I have seen Sarah about once a year but really haven't spent quality time with her since she got married 4 years ago!

So, I made the decision that enough was enough, we had to go see Sarah. Especially before baby #3 arrives. I booked our flights, then began to panic. How was I going to keep a 1 yr old and 3 yr old happy by myself in an Airport and on a flight?? Luckily, I picked nonstop flights and my children were angels. God was helping me out on the departure and return flight. And there were some very sweet girls who were inclined to entertain.

The first day we got there we went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. My flight was into BWI so it was really close. Unfortunately they make yu check your strollers so Sarah had to carry Chambers around while I chased Moseley. Sarah's little boy had his first day at MDO that day so he wasn't with us. We quickly realized that was a blessing.

Thursday morning we went to the National Zoo in DC. It was so huge that we were there for 2 hours and saw maybe 4 exhibits. Jason had this day off so it was 3 adults and 3 children. We had a great time and although Moseley wanted to be carried at the end, he loved his animal lunchbox that came with his ZooMeal.

The orangutans had a rope perch that they could climb across right over the zoo visitors heads. It was very cool for children and adults alike :)

Sarah's hubby is the Assistant Pastor of Fairfax United Methodist Church and they live in the Parsonage next door to the church. The afternoons (after naps) were spent at the church's preschool playground which was massive and fenced. The boys had a great time and wore themselves out.

After this he hung from the top bar and just let go about 5 feet off the ground. He thought it was so fun but it scared the pants off me!

One morning we went to the Air and Space Museum in DC. I realized after we got there that I had gone to the museum when I was younger - 7th grade maybe?

After the Air and Space Museum we went to Gravelly Point Park to eat lunch. It sits adjacent to Reagan National Airport and the departing planes take off over your head. It was awesome to see the planes close enough to notice the retracting wheels.

We also saw a car-boat that drove straight into the water from the street. Moseley could NOT believe his eyes. Anyone who has the LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go knows that a "Car-Boat: It won't go!!"

Pooped after a long day. A big fat thank you to Amanda for lending us your car so we could fit all three kiddos in the back! And thanks to Sarah for finding us a carseat so we'd only have to check one :)

Chambers was a lap baby but was good 99% of the flight. I could usually keep him distracted with food.

Moseley was so good. He loves to fly - he couldn't get enough of watching the houses get smaller then bigger again.

The Branch Family does McWane

About a month ago (I'm a tad behind), Anna, Jimmy and Sarah came to Birmingham to visit. We all decided to spend the day at the McWane Science Center. Jimmy and Moseley had a blast while Sarah and Chambers sat back and watched.

Moseley talks about Jimmy all the time and although we are sad they live so far away, we love seeing them when they visit!

That's how someone referred to me the other day at Moseley and Chambers school. Followed by, "Can you even imagine!!???"

Yes. Yes, I can.

I haven't even thought about what it will be like to have 3 children, three years and younger. I imagine the under 30 part is to my advantage - more energy and such (although I am not feeling the energy bit right now).

Projects -

1) Finally finished Moseley's curtains!! I had 2 of the 4 panels done months ago but b/c they are fully lined with blackout lining they were quite an undertaking.

2) I made a family of Easter Eggs as part of our Easter decor. I have an unfinished egg for baby boy #3 :)

3) I want to finish making Moseley and Chambers' Desk Chair cushion out of extra sheeting I have.

The Boys -

1) Moseley tells people "My mommy has a baby in her tummy and all I have is breakfast in my tummy!" He is such a talker. He gets what you are talking about or will question you until it makes sense. He gets dressed/undressed by himself (this is a huge help to me!) He is just all grown up it makes me so sad and so proud at the same time. He gives out love very freely. Loves to hug and kiss - especially Chambers who isn't always receptive.

3) Chambers has started really communicating. He points to things he wants or places he wants to go. He also says "No, No, No" in this little funny voice when he doesn't want something (usually Milk, never, ever food). He also says "Uh-oh Spaghetti-oh" which is pretty funny. Oh and he says the sweetest "Thank you" when you give him something. He still signs "Milk", "More", and "All Done." He says "Ball (loves these), Book (pretends to read these aloud), Hello! (more like hay-yo), Pee-Pie!, Baby, and tries to mimic most words you say.

4) Moseley and Chambers eat us out of house and home. And they will eat anything. Some of the stranger things child-wise: salad (with onions, carrots, radishes and tomatoes), canned beets, etc. Plus all the normal stuff like sandwiches and burgers, etc.

While the boys and I were partying in Mobile for Mardi Gras, Birmingham got 3 inches of perfectly beautiful and usefully fun snow.

I am jealous. I am jealous on behalf of my 3 year old who would have loved donning his rain boot, ski bib and taking his new red sled out in the snow. But alas, the sled remains a virgin and my child still asks if it will snow today :(

Chambers started walking right after Christmas. He would take 4-5 steps at a time then take a break until the next day. After about 3 weeks he really got the hang of it and of course, now walks (ahem, runs) everywhere.

You'll have to turn your head sideways b/c I don't know how to turn a video without really spending some time on it...

Moseley, Chambers and I headed to Mobile last Thursday for Mardi Gras. We had a ton planned including parade watching, family bonding, lots of eating and babysitter-taking-over-ing (not. a. word. but. should. be.)

Friday the boys, my momma and Nancy and I took care of business and got some baby/wedding presents out of the way. I don't care how long I have lived in Birmingham (7 years!) I just can't get used to buying gifts anywhere but Claude Moore. I equally enjoy opening the shiny white box with gold lettering (in case you were wondering).

It also started snowing hard in Mobile Friday. Nothing stuck b/c it was so wet from the previous 48 hours of rain but it was still beautiful as it fell.

Friday: Everything was so wet this was all the snow sticking to be had.

Saturday, My momma and I headed to the Castles and Crowns store in Mobile and got a ton of stuff on sale. Everything I purchased was 30%-75% off! Woo hoo!

Saturday: Enjoying a pretty day outside. I was so happy with the Mardi Gras shirts we had made.

Carol came to babysit the boys about 4p on Saturday so my momma and I could head downtown to the Coronation. We met Nancy, her parents, grandparents and brother there and sat to watch the ladies being presented to the court. It is hard to believe it has been 7 years since I made my debut and 6 since Nancy made hers. After the Coronation my momma and I attended the King's Supper. The dinner was a fabulous salad, delicious steak and wonderful Tiramisu.

Sunday the boys and I had fun visiting with family. We headed to my grandmom's first then to my daddy's. We had so much fun playing and the day was so gorgeous. We were able to spend a good 2 hours outside.

The valentine's flowers Kevin had sent to Mobile even though we really don't celebrate the day... it was so sweet and we missed him terribly.

On Monday, Carol came back and watched the boys so we could go to the Queen's Luncheon. It was also delicious and beautifully decorated. We came home, took a quick rest and got the boys ready to head back downtown for the IMs parade. It was a great parade and they threw lots of great stuff including Alabama Championship huggers! I caught one for Kevin as a coming home gift :) Mint moonpies are a big deal this year and they are fantastic! They are like gigantic Thin Mints.

Tuesday we woke up and lazily got ready to head back to Birmingham. I am always so sad to leave but so ready to get settled in at home. I am already looking forward to Carnival Season 2011!!!

Oh and by the way, we are expecting a baby. Moseley and Chambers will be big brothers in late August. We are very excited but recently I am nervous about mothering 3 children... especially with Kevin's busy schedule. Thank goodness for pre-school! Hopeully, Moseley will be going 4-5 days next year.

My momma (with Kevin's handyman help) re-did Moseley's room in anticipation of Chambers bunking with him sometime this summer. Not sure if an 18 month old can sleep in a twin bed though so he may be in a pack-n-play for a little while.

**I promise I will blog about Christmas but it will be such an involved post I figured I'd knock out this smaller one.

On my 29th Birthday the boys sang me Happy Birthday. Well, Kevin wanted them too but Chambers can't carry a tune very well and Moseley sobbed the whole time b/c he was sad it wasn't HIS birthday. Not cool, guys. But the gesture was sincere.

My friend Beth made me brownies and my friend Catherine took me out for Coffee and bought us a sled for the upcoming forecast of snow. I also got a spa gift certificate from my Daddy and Victoria which is perfect!! Also, Aunt Cici and Uncle Stevo sent me some beautiful frames so I put pics of the boys in them. Kevin's parents and my momma will be here next weekend to celebrate my birthday all over again... I like having a Birthday month!!

That night, Kevin picked me up (he was coming from work) with flowers in hand and went to the Olive Garden for dinner and to see "Up in the Air." Great movie and awesome food.

I got beautiful diamond princess cut stud earrings as a joint Christmas/Birthday gift.

It was a good birthday despite the age. I was 12 mourning 13 about 17 years ago and some things never change!

When I typed the title it automatically filled the rest in so apparently I have used this title before. Oh well I am not very creative these days. I thought I'd actually write a blog while I have some time of what we are all up to.

Moseley

(3 yr, 41" & 35#)

Is a learning and talking machine. He asks a million questions and is constantly saying "Why?" or "How does this work?" or "Can you show me how to work this thing?" He has a TAG reader that he loves and helps quench the curiosity for a bit each day.

Lately I have been waking him after an hour or so from his nap (if he takes one) so he won't wake up to early in the morning. He goes to bed about 6:30 or 7:00p and wakes up between 5:30a and 6:30a.

Mose taking a nap in my bed. He fell asleep in the car and I just couldn't carry him up the stairs.

He is very sweet to his brother. If Chambers is crying he goes and finds toys to distract him or rubs his back saying "It's ok, don't cry sweetie cutie." He also thinks that Chambers is his age/durability. Chambers laughs when Moseley pulls him across the floor by his feet, which then makes Moseley die laughing.

After I get of the phone he asks "Momma, who is on the phone?" Last week I said, "Daddy." He said "my daddy." and I said "your daddy is my husband." He said, "Yes, and my husband is Grandmom." It was hilarious! He of course is referring to his great grandmother who he calls grandmom and he adores her. He always runs to her and wants to sit with her and go places with her. It cracks me up!!

He calls me babydoll. As in "Momma, you dropped your keys! Here you go babydoll."

He also likes to play "Momma and Baby." If he has two similar toys (or two of the same thing, i.e., he has 2 Thomas Tank Engines and 2 Percy Engines) he will make one the baby and one the Momma and have them interact. Usually involving eating, sleeping, playing and a time-out.

He loved the Princess and the Frog. As a result, he wanted to watch some other disney movies we have. He now calls The Little Mermaid, "The Princess and the Fish" and Cinderella, "The Princess and her Mom." I assume the last one is due to the fairy godmother's part in the story.

He has a baby doll that he has had and sleeps with for 2 years. We asked him to name him and he said he already had named him. When we asked him the name, he said, "Pony Watkins, or Cheryl for short."

Moseley loves music. His inclination leans toward songs about Jesus and all Lady Gaga. He sometimes does Jesus/Poker Face mash-ups which I am sure makes God super-happy.

Moseley still has RAD but we only nebulize every day/every other day. Other than that he is so healthy and LOVES veggies. He really likes Avocado's and eats them out of the skin with a spoon. The only thing we have found he doesn't like is Mandarin Oranges. Weird, I know, who doesn't like those. They are typical kiddie food but he avoids them and has since he started eating food. He loves clementines, oranges, grapefruits and all other citrus fruits, though.

Moseley is left-handed. Eats, throws, bats, writes, etc with his left hand. Sometimes I find him trying to use his right hand but shortly after he will shake his head and switch hands.

Chambers

(1 yr, 31.25" & 22#)

Chambers also talks a mile a minute. He just babbles like he is talking to someone and adds a few raspberries here and there.

He says - Mamma, Dadda, Hi (and holds his hand to his ear like a cell phone) and Bye (holds both hands and waves them Hugh Grant/Love Actually-Style).

He signs - "more," "all done," and "milk."

If you ask for a kiss he will lean to you and open his mouth. I love this! We kiss a lot :)

He crawls so fast, cruises around furniture, and loves push toys (or turning any toy/chair into a push toy) but he isn't walking. Moseley was a slow walker so I imagine Chambers will be too.

He has 6 teeth. 4 upper and 2 lower. It's amazing how a child's face can change with the topography of teeth.

He seems right-handed and still has one cheek dimple and one chin dimple. He sucks his thumb when he is super tired or sleeping. I can always tell nap time b/c he starts sucking his thumb.

He takes 2 naps a day, about 2 hrs each (8:30-10:30 & 1-3p) and sleeps at night from 6p-6:30a. When you go to put him down he will roll over and start sucking his thumb immediately. He likes his sound machine to be on as well as his Tiny Love Musical Mobile (without the mobile part).

He doesn't like being put in his carseat but then is completely quiet once he is in it.

He takes a bottle or sippy cup of whole milk. He eats almost everything we do. He seems to be like his brother and LOVES all food. But unlike Moseley he likes Mandarin Oranges.

He doesn't like being left behind. Even if he is in a room full of toys. If Moseley or I leave him gated in a room he will scream and cry. I try to ignore it so he doesn't "get his way" but it must be hard to be so co-dependent. He love climbing and stairs are so perfect for that. He also pushes stools around to create a good place for climbing, I really have to watch this one!

Kevin's work (Baker-Donelson) Christmas Party was at the McWane Science Center this year. It was such a great party and we saw lots of Kevin's co-workers and their children.

We had a special visit from Santa and got a cute family photo. McWane has the train exhibit up on the 3rd floor and it is awesome. Moseley was obsessed by all the trains!

Reactive Airway Disease, that is...

Moseley was re-diagnosed with RAD for the 2nd year. He has a terrible cough that just won't go away. Because they can't perform the necessary tests for asthma, they classify children under this category. There is a chance he will grow out of it, which would be great but in meantime he has to receive 2 different medications through a nebulizer about 6x a day.

Right after Chambers Pink Eye (which was obvious b/c of his flaming red eye) Moseley came down with a fever that would go away. Turns out he had a "monster ear infection." It was his first one and when the Dr asked if he showed any signs I said no. Then she asked Moseley if his ear hurt and he said no. The only indicator was a cough and a fever.

The Sickness: Chambers Edition

Chambers had pink eye about a month ago. This was the first time he has gotten sick. His poor eyes were encrusted but he still stayed in good spirits. Because of the contagious nature of pink eye, Moseley had to take the eye drops as well. They both hated them and I found out later that they sting... Woops!

What's up with the locals?

My friend and I go into O'Henry's Coffee some/most Tues and Thurs while our sons are peers at the Bell Center around the corner. We both prefer buying local. Today however, we chose a table in the corner b/c I had Chambers and his stroller. It was the only seat available and just so happened the only one that would get the stroller out of the way.

And here's the kicker...

Halfway through our coffee we were asked to "get up from our table." Apparently, a group comes in on Thursdays at 9a and have reserved that particular table. There was no sign that we could see when we sat down (as if that matters). This is a very busy time of day for OH and it was too cold to sit outside with a baby. Also, the situation was handled horribly. The man (who worked for OH) should have found us another table inside and offered to help us move our coffee and baby or just asked the group to sit outside or wait. Unfortunately for OH, neither of us will be going in again. I have never been kicked out of a table at Starbucks so maybe that is the way to go...

We went to Phoenix, Arizona for Greenbuild 2009, an international greenbuilding conference (over 30,000 people attended). We stayed a few days after on our own dime and made a vacation out of it. Kevin's parents were so wonderful to come to Birmingham and keep the boys for us while we went. We are so blessed to have such wonderful parents/in-laws.

Tuesday, Nov 10th

Our flight landed in PHX about 11am. We checked into our hotel, the Aloft. It is right by a light rail station and bus pick-up! This is very good as we are not renting a car for our duration. The light rail drops off right at the conference center where Kevin's conference is. We ate lunch and at 1p Kevin went to his class while I took a nap. It was an awesome nap. About 6p, Kevin brought the light rail back to the hotel to get me since I wasn't sure how to use the transit system yet. We headed to Pizzeria B ianco/Bar Bianco to scope it out. Kevin had organized a Birmingham/Atlanta meet-n-greet there for Thursday night. We got there about 7p and the hostess said the wait to eat dinner was about 2 hours!! We weren't very hungry and they served appetizers on the bar side so we went that route.

Wednesday, Nov 11th

I worked out and showered then met Kevin downtown for lunch. We ate at a little italian restaurant called Foccacia Fiorentina. I got Caprese salad and Kevin got a half and half plate of pasta. After I took the rail back to the hotel and got ready to go shopping. I had mentioned to Kevin that I needed some new clothes b4 the trip and he suggested I wait until I was child-free during the trip. I took the bus to the Biltmore Fashion Park and shopped at Ann Taylor and Victoria Secret. I found everything I had needed. I headed back to the hotel and ate some dinner. Kevin had a meetup at the Rose and Crown.

The Biltmore Fashion Park has an underground crosswalk. It was inlaid with beautiful stones and surrounded by glass tiles.

Thursday, Nov 12th

Thursday we slept in. After I worked out we headed to the Arizona Science Center to see what it was like. It is a lot like the McWane Science Center in Birmingham and thanks to reciprocity, we got in FREE! It was an awesome place. We had fun doing some of the activities. Then we went to the Arizona Center to eat at Mi Amigo's. It was good but they don't have the white cheese dip here... so I couldn't get too excited. Kevin had some sessions to attend and I came back to the hotel and took a very good nap. At 5pm I took the rail back downtown to meet Kevin at Pizzeria Bianco/Bar Bianco again for the meet-n-greet he arranged. About 7 people showed up and we all had a drink. Kevin had put our name in early so about 7:30p they called us for a table. By then, the wait was 3-4 HOURS! It was so worth the wait though. I got a caprese salad and it was the best I had ever had. The Mozzarella was fresh and the tomatoes were gorgeous. Even the olive oil tasted heavenly. We also got the Rosa, which was a white pizza with red onion, Parmigiano Reggiano, Rosemary and AZ Pistachios. It was the BEST pizza in the entire world!

Friday, November 13th

We slept in and then took the 10:45a bus back to the Biltmore Fashion Park to see Paranormal Activity. Our show didn't start until 1:40p so we had some lunch first at Sam's Cafe. We split an order of nachos and each had a Margarita. Then we headed towards our movie but were still early so we stopped in a sports bar just below the theatre and Kevin got a local IPA. I was freezing so I went to Starbucks and got a Mocha. The movie was pretty scary, something about it's low budget really makes it feel real. Luckily we saw it during the day. We headed to the bus stop and lo and behold our bus pulled up so we hopped on and after a few bumps in the road (one guy getting thrown off the bus) we made it back to the hotel. I worked out while Kevin figured out what we were doing on Saturday. Then Enterprise came and picked up up to get our rental car and by the time we got back with it it was about 6p. About 7p we went over towards the Convention Center to pick up Astyn, a friend we met here, for dinner. Kevin had found this awesome venue called Tuck Shop which reminds us a lot of Urban Standard in Birmingham. The three of us went over there and had an amazing meal. They welcome sharing plates so we all three split Crostini with fennel cream cheese and cucumber and roasted grapes and brie as well as mixed green salad with fried goat cheese, pickled shallots and grapes; red beans and rice, sausage and grilled creole shrimp, citrus-brined fried chicken, white cheddar waffles, and braised collard greens. Astyn was actually staying at Aloft as well so we all came back to have a drink before her red-eye flight. We ended up playing a couple rounds of Clue which was fun, then called it a night.

They had several different board games available for playing in the lobby area of Aloft.

Saturday, November 14

We woke up early and headed to Sedona. It is about a 2 hr drive so we rented a car for the day to get out there. Our Nissan Sentra was nothing fancy but it did the trick. We saw the Red Rocks of Sedona from the Airport and The Chapel.

The elevation is 4000 ft above sea level. In contrast, Mt Cheaha (Alabama's highest point) is only 2200 ft!

Your driving through desert and all of a sudden you come out on the other side of a mountain and see these huge red rock formations all around. It is amazing!

The guy at the Visitors Center told us that if we went to both places we could see ALL of Sedona. The views were both gorgeous but the Chapel, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright was by far the most impressive. Not a bad place to worship God!

We went to Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant for lunch. It was ok but we were NOT impressed by Phoenix's choice of Mexican Cuisine. The other they have to offer made up for it though. It we had our way we'd be eating at Tuck Shop again!!

I just can't let go

Last week, at 10 months old, Chambers got his first real cold. For the first time he couldn't nurse b/c he couldn't breathe. The first day I pumped and fed him which was so hard. Then I decided I would work towards the end of breastfeeding. I went out and bought formula.

But I just can't stop nursing. I am too emotional about cutting off this little guy. I think it is b/c it symbolizes (for me) the start of toddlerhood.

I was nursing 5 times a day and now I am down to 2 so that is something. I am giving him formula twice a day as well as some table food. Any advice you have about the emotional part, let me know...

Ok awhile back I got some emails for these private sales you had to be invited to. I thought it was a scam so I didn't look into it. Last month, House Beautiful had an article about them and so I decided to see what the fuss was about. You sign up (again, invitation only) and then you get access to these 24 hour "boutiques" of designer items such as clothes, decor, and shoes. They are all at least 50% off. I just look at the sites a couple of times a week to see if there is anything I need. They have brands like KitchenAid, Marc Jacobs, Cuisinart, Theory, and Dolce and Gabbana. I am not a trendy person but I have wanted quite a few things from these sites. It is also fun to see some of the heinous stuff that is sold out immediately. Like I said, not so trendy over here.

Chambers started crawling a few weeks back. Commando style just like Moseley, of course. Now, I find him in the strangest of places. Usually under Moseley's chair where he might find some stray crumbs.

One good thing is that he isn't terribly fast and it takes a lot of energy for him to go just a few feet so he is not leaving the room yet :)

Thirsty Thursday

We went to the Barons game tonight and had a blast. The boys were angels and we stayed until almost 10p. If you know me and our schedule - this is LATE! The specials were $1 beer/soda and 25 cent wings. And we got the tickets free through Baker-Donelson! What a deal. Our good friends Joe and Sara Brown came too which was fun. Moseley and Sara had fun walking around and Chambers loved Joe's beard :)

Needless to say they fell asleep in the car on the short drive home. I wish I had pictures but I can't find my camera :(

Chambers, at 8 and a half months has his first two teeth! They had broken through when he woke up this morning. Moseley had 4 teeth at 6 months so I was wondering when (and if) he would get teeth. I truly had no idea he was even close until my friend Kirk pointed out that he was teething on Saturday. I may start calling Kirk the baby whisperer!

Sewanee, TN

We headed to Sewanee a few weeks ago to see my *cousin* Emily Rose de Juan get married. It was a very fun weekend.

We headed up to Decatur on Friday afternoon to drop the kiddos off. That is right, we left them at home!! Then we continued on to Sewanee, TN where we stayed at Elizabeth Dotts' fabulous place on the bluff. The first night we ate with the Dotts family at the Monteagle Diner, a wonderful greasy spoon in Monteagle, TN.

Then, Elizabeth, Kevin and I headed to an after-after-rehearsal party on Chastain Lake. Saturday, we had a brunch at the Monteagle Inn which had FABULOUS shrimp and grits. Then I headed with some of the bridesmaids to get hair done while Kevin, Staples, and Harris Oppenheimer helped load the libations for the wedding.

The wedding was that night at All Saints Chapel on the campus at Sewanee. Growing up Episcopalian, that church is the holy grail for us. It is gorgeous!

**Side note: We drove Kevin's parents Beetle Bug up so we could leave our car equipped with the carseats with them. There is a bug in one of the stained glass windows so that was neat.**

The Reception was at the Sewanee Inn and had a fabulous Water Table. This is where they offer all kinds of juices such as Lavender infused Lemonade and Strawberry-Watermelon water. For those of you who don't know, I don't drink beer, ever. And I rarely drink anything else. I don't like the way it tastes so this was my kind of addition. I must have had 7 or so glasses of the lemonade :) The food there was also wonderful.

Sunday we woke up and spent the morning and lunch with Staples and Nancy. That was wonderful. When we left to get the boys I was soooo excited to be able to hold them. I had missed them so much.

A few weeks ago we headed to Atlanta for a few days to stay with our friends, the Tucks. Katie and Andy have a little boy who is just under a year older than Moseley (Sam) and a little girl who is 16 months old (Lily). We also got to see Lee Engwall/Lee Buffington and their new precious girl, Laura. And of course, Uncle Steven (Chambers godfather).

Sam and Moseley play really well together and Sam is so smart. Moseley always comes away knowing more than before.

Lily is just adorable and I love holding her :) We decided that Lily needed a real baby to push around in her stroller.

8 months old today!

I can't believe my baby is 8 months old.

Things he does -

1) Mastered sitting up at 6 months so now he can sit himself up from laying on his tummy. He can also reach over very far to grab things without falling over.

2) Not crawling. I am so ok with this. He has gotten on his hands a knees several times so he is strong enough but has no desire to be fully mobile. He also skootches around on his tummy in all directions.

3) Holds his own bottle, even though they are few and far between.

4) Does not pay attention when nursing. Even though I will nurse to a year, he just makes it take so long b/c he wants to see what is going on around him.

5) Eats 1 meal a day (around dinnertime). Usually some cereal and homemade baby food. I made all of Moseley's food and have loved making Chambers as well.

6) Grabs at everything! Necklaces, toys, food. He is fast and very precise. He can grab the pendant off my necklace before i have even finished picking him up.

7) Eats Puffs and Cheerios off his tray. He is very good at the pincer grip and getting food straight to his mouth.

There are tons more that I am forgetting but for now I must go nap...

8) Oh and he talks non-stop. Lots of Mamamama and Dadadadada and blowing raspberries.

Beach Trip, Take Three

We went to Perdido for our annual Fourth of July celebration with the Engwalls. We ate like kings and had a blast. The fireworks were awesome and the boys did a great job picking them out!

While Wyatt (Bean), Steven (TiVo) and Kevin picked out fireworks the owner took Moseley around with a big sack and picked out a ton of fireworks for him to take home for free. He got cars, tanks, sparklers, and pops among other things. That boy sure can procure free stuff!

We ate Friday at Pirate's Cove which was fun. I have been going there since I was an infant and although Mr Paul isn't with is anymore, many of the people are. It is so fun to see how it has changed (and hasn't). We went on a boat ride every day and I didn't get a picture of chambers but he was so cute squished in his life jacket.

I was completely spoiled since I barely had to take care of Moseley or Chambers. Everyone else played with and held both of them which left me tons of time for naps.

Not so Little Weekend

Kevin, Moseley, Chambers and I drove up to Knoxville this past weekend. Kevin's Moms sister (Aunt Gerry) lives there with her family (The Littles) , their family (The Evans) and their family (confused yet?) We had a very fun weekend of hanging out at home and going to the Children's Museum in Oak Ridge ,where the Manhattan Project was based.

Moseley and Aunt Gerry (Janice's sister). He insisted she take him to the potty every time, it was so funny!

The talented Becky Abernathy took our family photos a few weeks back and they are amazing. We got them in the mail and I just wanted you to see some of our favorites. She shot them on location at Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham. She was super professional (see pics) but more than that she LOVES children. She was singing Moseley's favorite song in the middle of the street just to keep his attention. It's a tough job to keep a 2 year old entertained but she pulled it off. The Beach - take two

We headed back to the beach for about a week. This time we went to Dauphin Island where my Aunt Ellen and "Unc" have a house on the west end.

We had a ton of fun and celebrated my mom's "40th" birthday while we were there. Moseley went out Crabbing with "Unc" and Bancroft and everyone went shark fishing near Sand Island. They keep their boat on the east end at their parents cove house so we also went on a Booze Cruise around the bay and stopped at a few friends houses to chat.

A dried out minnow we found on the deck (a bird dropped it?) and made into an hors d'oeuvres :) We served it to Unc but he didn't fall for it.

Yesterday, we had planned to go to a water playdate at a friends house but got rained out. Moseley was really excited and had been such a good boy at my doctor's appointment that I let him watch a movie. He wanted to watch Cars, of course, but insisted on watching with Chambers.

It is funny to me that they are both our boys since they look so different. Moseley has such dark skin and light hair and Chambers is so pale with dark hair :)

The Garden of Eden

Wednesday, May 20th - We (Me, Moseley and Chambers) drove down to the beach during naptime. We had the pleasure of staying at Eden in Perdido Key, FL for nearly two weeks! The condo was on the 2nd floor (and they are all gulfside and on the beach) so we had a gorgeous close-up view. It is condo E-202 if you are looking for an awesome place to stay. It is such a gorgeous resort! I has an indoor pool and indoor jacuzzi as well as an outdoor pool with waterfall and outdoor jacuzzi. It also has a pretty large outdoor baby pool (very important!). It has a diner and spa as well which come in handy!

My momma and Kevin joined us Friday, the 22 until early Tuesday the 25th when they both had to return to work. Aunt Nancy Pants came Monday afternoon and stayed until Tuesday afternoon. We had quite a few days to ourselves which was a little hectic/difficult but we had fun nonetheless.

Moseley loves the water and beach and could occupy himself for hours in the baby pool with just a cup. We did play in the big pool a few times but that meant I had to have someone with me who could keep watch over Chambers. Speaking of Chambers, he basically sat in his stroller playing with toys anytime we were at the pool. He was such a good sport and never cried about it. I guess he doesn't know what he is missing but I still felt bad about it.

The drive down, Moseley sacked out! Can you see the pile of gear in the back? We stopped by our place in Josephine, AL (Perdido Bay) and got some fun toys, ice chests and other things so the car was crammed by the time we got home.

We woke up and headed straight to the pool.

May 9th I celebrated being out of High School for 10 years. Wow!!

In some ways it doesn't feel as if I am 10 years older and in some ways it has been forever since I walked the halls of UMS-Wright as a student. We went on a tour of the school which included the new Fine Arts building and the new E.A. Roberts building. Kevin, Moseley, Chambers and I had so much fun at the picnic visiting with friends. Moseley especially liked the Moonwalk and making friends with our classmates children!

Mother's Day

This was my third Mother's day. My first as a momma of two, though. Let's just say it never gets old! I LOVE waking up and reveling in the fact I have two beautiful little boys and an amazing big boy (Kevin) who has been such a great husband and father. God has really been good to me! When I woke up we all three snuggled for a bit which was so wonderful.

I was in Mobile for my 10 year reunion (more on that later) so I woke up Sunday at my momma's and Moseley, Kevin and Chambers gave me this book I had been coveting called, "Someday You'll Thank Me for This: The Official Southern Ladies Guide to being a 'Perfect' Mother." It's a funny book, one in a series, and they have great southern recipes scattered throughout. It is even signed by the Authors!

Then, as part of my gift, Momma and I set off downtown ALONE to have brunch and walk around. We ate at the Renaissance Riverview, which was fabulous.

We also went to the Battlehouse so my momma could tell me stories of her childhood spent there. She went to many dances there as well as had lunch with my grandmom Mary Buff when they played hookey from school. Then we told secrets in the archway. If you whisper at one side, you can hear it clear as day in the other side. It's amazing!!

We had so much fun! Thanks for being the best mom ever, Momma!!

Oak Mountain Petting Zoo

Last week we met up with Catherine, James, Anna and Jimmy (and Sarah too!) at the Oak Mountain Park Petting Zoo. It was mostly goats but 2 year olds don't seem to mind. Then we headed to the playground and had a picnic. They played hard and napped hard!!

Chambers Four Month Check-up

It looks like we have another tall one. Maybe not quite as tall as Moseley though :) He had some shots which was so sad but he was a trooper. No side effects except maybe some sore thighs.

Laughing hysterically when we change his clothes (he's very ticklish)

Both my sis-in-law and I were named for our momma's. She and her momma are Nancy Carmen Oppenheimer and me and my momma are Jessica Kimbrough Wood. Cute, eh?

Of course, baby Nancy and I (Jess) have taken our married names but it still counts!!!

I thought of this because I get to see my momma (Kim), baby Nancy, and Carmen TOMORROW!! What a lucky gal I am!

This weekend, we went down to Mobile for Easter and for Chambers Christening. The Christening was wonderful! It was held on Saturday at 4pm. Moseley was baptized at this same service 2 years ago... wow! Chambers was so sweet during the beginning of the service then fell asleep for the rest.

Some things that have been or will be going on with us:

1) John Chambers Garrison, II will be christened at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mobile on Saturday, April 11th. I am so excited. Moseley was baptized at this same service exactly two years ago so it is a special time for us. We are so thrilled that his god-parents Caroline Engwall Guitar and Steven Guitar are coming in for the service!

2) Moseley is so funny. After I feed Chambers in the morning I usually pump milk for storing or to give Moseley in his cup. Moseley said to me the other morning "All done feeding the baby, Momma? Otay, now go pump Mosey some Juice!" Apparently we were all out of regular milk and Kevin had given him some juice earlier and he wanted some more. I tried my hardest to explain to him I am not a beverage machine and I can only pump milk :)

3) Moseley calls Chambers Bumbo seat a "Bimbo." Whenever I put Chambers in it he always says, "No Momma, that's my BIMBO!"

4) I am just days away from completing my Lenten obligations! Facebook here I come (in moderation, of course). It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be and I am so glad that I could detach myself from technology enough

5) I am 8 lbs away from pre-Chambers weight!! And only 10-15 lbs more for pre-Moseley weight. It is so nice to wear most of my pre-maternity clothes, even if they don't look quite like they did before :)

A "WICKED" Good Time!

Kevin took me to see Wicked and it was awesome. The cast was amazing and their voices... oh my! If you have a chance to see it, please do. We had a fun dinner before the show with our neighbors at Chez Lulu in English Village. The company was great and dinner was delicious.

I'm not sure, but when you combine them it's a he** of a party!

Friday night I threw (with help) a SURPRISE birthday party for Kevin at our home. It was so awesome. He was SO surprised I think he might have had a small heart attack. There were 50+ of his nearest and dearest there. Many could not attend and we missed them terribly but we enjoyed the folks who came.

It was not an easy endeavor for the following reasons...

1) I had to set up the entire party after Kevin left for work on Friday. I had things hidden all over the garage and in my car.

2) I am a terrible liar. I don't like lying and usually people can tell. I tell Kevin everything single detail of my day so to leave out huge chunks of trips to Party City and why Harriet was coming over to fix up the house was awful!

3) I have TWO children. Two. Children. Little energy balls. Two.

4) I had to use my measly allowance. I did this so that it meant more to him and so he couldn't see the expenses and ask what they were for thereby ruining the surprise.

5) I had to leave the house at 4:30p (2 hours b4 the party) to pick up Kevin and begin our fake birthday night. We went to dinner first b/c I knew he wouldn't have a chance to eat while talking to his friends. It turned out great though and I had tons of help.

I'd like to thank the Academy - Sara and Joe designed the conversation-starting huggers (they were Turquoise and red and had Redd Foxx on one side, they were also the inspiration for the color scheme), Sara also helped set up the party and keep the food flowing. "Stancy" gave the huggers to Kevin as his birthday gift (great, great idea!). John braved Sam's Club to get the beer, coke and ice. Mia helped me set up the party also and was joined later by Nonna to help wrangle the children.

Kevin, blindfolded and thinking he was going to see "a show." I drove him around for 30 minutes in circles so he wouldn't know where he was. By the way, it's a birthday thing for us to blindfold each other on the way to a secret destination... we have been doing it since we starting dating in '02. Apparently, it is weird to other people, just not to us :)

Happy Birthday Baby, I love you so much and just wanted to tell you how special you are to me and how much I appreciate all the work you do for your family!!

**Side note: Major Congrats to our good friend David Perry who got engaged last night. I am sure he or his precious fiance Leigh will kill me for posting this but I am too excited. We could not be more thrilled for a more perfect couple and wish them all the best things in life!!

Kevin is a Construction Litigator at his firm. He is also for all intensive purposes the "green guy" in his group. He loves all things green and loftily set out to become a LEED Accredited Professional through the USGBC. He took the test this morning and PASSED. I am SO proud of him. He works really long days so to have 2 children at home and a full time job, this was not an easy task to undertake. Congrats again, sweetie!

Twi-hard for Kevin

Kevin has been working so hard lately. He has had a bunch to do at work and this other huge side project as well (taking the Leed AP test). Well, yesterday morning as he was headed to the UAB Library (I know, on Saturday!) he sent me an email from his car with this picture...

My very own copy of Twilight. I was so excited! Luckily the boys and I were going to take him lunch and go eat/play in the park so I could nab my new movie.

Then... Kevin made it home about 5:30p WITH FLOWERS. They are so pretty, I love them.

Then... he cooked dinner for me! The Spaghetti was wonderful and even more so was not having to make it!

After dinner we cuddled on the couch to watch Twilight since Kevin hadn't seen it yet. He has read the first 2 books though and enjoyed them. When I asked him how he liked the movie, he said, "It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."

Brotherly Love

There is nothing sweeter than my two little boys "playing together." Moseley wants to do everything momma does. He wants to feed the baby (he lifts his shirt and everything) and hold him and play with him. He is still too little to be left unsupervised but I just feel so secure knowing how much Moseley loves Chambers. Chambers, in turn, just lights up when Moseley comes over to talk to him.

My Baby Updates

Moseley is now fully potty trained and doing so great. Not to say that we haven't had our share of accidents but we wear regular underwear out and about now.

Chambers is THREE months old and such a wonderful baby. He is so content to just hang out. He still takes a long afternoon nap then goes to bed between 7 and 8p and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30a. Hopefully that will continue. Last week he was 13 lbs 11.5 oz but he'd only gained an ounce and a half since the week before. He is definitely slowing down in the growth department which is a good thing for my arms!

This week is Spring Break for Moseley's school, Boo! But, we have been having fun anyway. Today we had a picnic in the park and we are going to the B'ham Zoo tomorrow, yay!
